Denmark: Yoga Festival and 10 Years Anniversary of Ashtanga Yoga School in Copenhagen

The Ashtanga Yoga School in Copenhagen is celebrating the 10th anniversary with a full week Yoga Festival, hosting lots of activities and events in addition to normal classes. The program includes a workshop, a long list of lectures, free trial classes, an Ashtanga demonstration, a Yogi Cocktail Party and a Bollywood party!

About Juha Javanainen

Juha is the leader of the Ashtanga Yoga School in Helsinki. He is a dear friend of Ashtanga Yoga School in Copenhagen and has played a big part in establishing Ashtanga in Scandinavia.

Lecture “Yoga and Indian Thought – Where Does Yoga Come From ?”
by Professor Kenneth Zysk

Professor Kenneth Zysk, senior lecturer in Indology at Copenhagen University will come and give an in-depth presentation on Yoga, the basic thoughts and concepts in the Indian way of thinking. His presentation is entitled “Yoga and Indian thought – where does yoga come from ?””




Lecture “Ashtanga, An Inspiration to Many Other Types of Yoga ”

By Ina Tanild

Ms. Ina Tanild is giving a class entitled “Ashtanga, an inspiration to many other yoga types”. Ina introduced yoga to become a permanent class offer in fitness centres in Denmark 10 years ago, and today she has incorporated many different yoga types in her program. Come and try out how she plays with yoga.




Lecture “Yoga Seen Through the Eyes of a Physiotherapist”
by Britt Pedersen

Another class is entitled “Yoga seen through the eyes of a physiotherapist”. Britt Pedersen is a physiotherapist in her professional life, she has been practising Ashtanga for many years and is also a teacher at the school. She will give a class and try to show how some of the asana work on your body from an anatomic angle.
