UK: Toward Greater Equanimity: A Vinyasa Flow Workshop with Mimi Kuo-Deemer at The Life Centre

| 09-02, 2010

London | Sun 19 Sept, 2010

Mimi Kuo-Deemer is leading a Vinyasa Flow Workshop entitled “Toward Greater Equanimity” at The Life Centre in London on September 19th, 2010.
We have all felt that in our daily lives we sometimes need an energetic boost, while other times we feel like seeking out a calm, quiet rest. Both these tendencies are aimed at bringing our bodies and minds toward a state of balance, or homeostasis. In this workshop, we will learn how we use breath, postures and sequences in Vinyasa Yoga to generate equilibrium and steadiness in our bodies, thoughts and actions. We will explore some of the ways in which poses and counter-poses can be used to equalize our muscular, skeletal and nervous systems and bring us toward greater equanimity.
A dynamic and enlivening vinyasa-based class will prepare the body for moving into deeper, longer held postures. A restful and rejuvenating finish will be followed by a heart-focused meditation. Whether a beginner, intermediate or advanced practitioner, the intention is to take each individual to the state where boundaries and limits may be skillfully explored. With effort and grace, this Yoga Workshop can help clarify the ways in which anyone can achieve greater equanimity and calm.

About Mimi Kuo-Deemer

Mimi has been practising Yoga for 15 years and teaching for the past 8. She teaches a mindful and enlivening Vinyasa-Based Yoga. Her approach fosters steady breathing practices in combination with healthy alignment principles to help quiet the mind and bring ease to the body. She came to Yoga 15 years ago after a 7-year love affair with dance. She enjoys practising qigong and exploring Chinese 5 Element philosophies that imbue her teachings. Mimi’s main teachers in the Yoga world are Erich Schiffmann, who imparted to her a love for meditation, teaching and the wonders of self-practice; and Donna Farhi, who inspires her continually with her non-didactic, inquisitive approach to teaching and learning. Teaching is one of Mimi’s favorite things, and she loves to share the happiness that it can bring. She is a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (RYT), a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), and co-founder of Yoga Yard, a studio in Beijing, China, where she taught for 7 years before moving to London.

Sometimes I need to make adjustments in my sun salutations. I didn’t know there are actual proper ways of making these adjustments, but I saw Leeann Carey’s free yoga video on this exact thing and it really helped.
