YOGA FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY SPECIALIZED TRAINING

CERTIFIED BY THE EMBODIED YOGA ANATOMY – 100 HOURS

EIGHT SEMINARS OF THEORY AND PRACTICE OF YOGA FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY
AUGUST AND DECEMBER 2026 AT LISBOA YOGA LOFT, PORTUGAL

PROGRAM

  • This Course was design for practitioners and Yoga teachers who wish to develop their knowledge in Yoga Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics.
  • The study doesn’t follow any specific Yoga tradition nor defends any method, all students and Yoga teachers are welcome.
  • The main purpose of this program is to help the student use the body intelligence in a functional way so he improves his ásana practice and understands the mechanics, mobility and limitations of his and other bodies.
  • The Course is mainly practical and contains an adequate amount of theory to follow that practice. It might be seen as a laboratory of anatomy in Yoga.

– This Course is NOT a Yoga Teachers Training. It’s a specialization for students and practitioners that wishes to develop their knowledge and study in Yoga Functional Anatomy and Bio-mechanics –

YOGA FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY

Understanding the anatomy and body’s mechanics is one of the essencial tools for the Yoga practice, as for teacher as for practitioners.
One of the main purposes of this study is to learn and adapt the Yoga practice to the structure, condition and limitations of the body. Anatomy will be approached in a very concise way so It will be easier to apply It in your Yoga classes.
Learning the function of the body in depth on various levels we potentialise our practice and our Yoga classes. With this foundation we can look at Yoga in a more therapeutic way and adapted to the individual. We will learn how to apply the adequate adaptations and modifications for all levels of practice and student conditions.
This could also be a way for the teachers to enrich the communication and intervention with their students in the Yoga classes.

– Function can never be separated from the structure, that’s why It’s necessary to study the human body’s anatomy and physiology –

Osteology, Myology and Arthrology will be approached in this course by sections depending of the area of the body that we’ll be studying and the corresponding ásana.
We’ll learn to define what limits the body movement through researching and studying muscular chains, bio mechanic relations, mio fascial tensegrity and articular blockages.
We’ll study some of the most common pathologies and how to prevent injuries in the Yoga practice. We’ll approach some ásana alternatives to help with those issues.
The comprehension of the human’s anatomy and bio-mechanics allows us to develop and engage in the physical realm of the Yoga practice (ásana) but also works on the mind, emotional and energetic body.
This program also teaches how to use Yoga props such as bricks, belts, bolsters, chairs, etc and how to apply these materials in an intelligent way to develop our practice and help students execute Yoga postures without committing certain areas of the body and advance to a more mature and smooth practice.
