<p>Heather Mason, assisted by Carly Taylor, are conducting the workshop “Healing from and Depression Through Yoga &amp; Mindfulness” where they will explore the curative role that yoga therapy and mindfulness can have on emotional healing.<span id="more-1794"></span></p>
<p>Modern science and psychology are now beginning to appreciate the importance of body-mind approaches in the treatment of depression, anxiety and stress. This workshop will offer an opportunity for experiential learning, combined with insight into groundbreaking theory around how both yoga and mindfulness influence the brain and nervous system. Using a combination of yoga therapy, break-work, mindfulness and psychotherapeutic support, Heather and Carly will guide you through practices specifically designed to work with both the mental and physiological aspects of anxiety and depression.</p>

<p><strong>About Heather Mason</strong></p>
<p>Heather Mason offers Yoga Therapy for the mind and the body based on her extensive training in psychotherapy, yoga therapy, and mindfulness-based practice. Having suffered from both depression and anxiety Heather offers an approach that is both experientially and scientifically based. This prompted her to found a company called Yoga for the Mind where she integrates the benefits of yoga postures, breath practices, mindfulness techniques, and psychotherapeutic principles to help people alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression. Through this combined approach Heather is able to work with both the mind and body meeting both the psychological and physiological aspects of mental-health through a process of mutual cure. Heather holds an MA in Buddhist Studies from SOAS University London, and completing a three year MA in Clinical Buddhist-Based Psychotherapy. This educational journey is an accompaniment to a three year meditative and yogic journey in South East Asia where she resided in Buddhist monasteries and learned how to transcend her own emotional suffering. Heather has been teaching yoga since 2001 and is also a qualified yoga therapist. Heather is the only person in the UK to have trained extensively with the Boston Trauma Center, Massachusetts on how to use yoga as a complementary treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD and is now enrolled in an MSc in Neuroscience, Roehampton  University to conduct research on how Yoga can positively influence the brain. <p>Carly Taylor is a qualified yoga teacher (Integral Yoga Institute Gibraltar/ recognized by The Yoga Alliance) and founder of Ginger Pai &#8211; <a href="http://www.gingerpai.com/">www.gingerpai.com</a>. Carly’s teaching style is gentle &amp; fun, she works in a relaxed and intuitive way. She specializes, in working with people who have ME/Chronic Fatigue (Trained with Fiona Agombar) and has trained as a LifeForce Yoga practitioner with Amy Weintraub to use yoga to treat depression and anxiety. Additionally, Carly completed the Integral Yoga / Raja Yoga “The Science of the Mind” Teacher training in Portugal with Nalanie Chellaram &amp; Hersha Chellaram and has been influenced by many other inspiring teachers, including: Heather Mason -“Yoga for the Mind”, Bridget Woods Kramer- Anusara Yoga, DR Ruth Gilmore/Paul Fox Yoga Anatomy, David Sye Yoga Beats being just a few. Drawing on a combination of skills and knowledge Carly founded Ginger Pai, which integrates yoga and creative arts to promote good mental health and happiness. You will learn yogic strategies to begin or enhance your regular yoga practice that can help alleviate both depression and anxiety along with methods to safely release chronically held tension and repressed emotion in the physical and emotional body. You will leave feeling refreshed, renewed, and excited about your home practice with new tools to work with your mood or to help your clients and students manage theirs.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Leam to help students and clients focus, relax, and nave greater access to feeling states. This program interweaves ancient yogic wisdom with current findings in neurobiology. Yoga teachers and mental-health professionals will learn strategies that can safely release chronically held tension and repressed emotion. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Through yoga practice, discussion, and practice teaching sessions you will:</span></p>

<li>Design one-on-one yoga sessions for dysthymia (chronic depression), anxiety-based depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder</li>
<li>Learn breathing and meditation practices for addressing dysthymia and anxiety-based depression</li>
<li>Add somatic strategies to your clinical practice and yoga classes that increase your clients&#8217; self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-esteem, and ability to cope</li>
<li>Experience techniques you can teach your clients and students to do at home.</li>
</ul>
